Florida Hometown Democracy

Speaking against the Amendment will be Ryan Houck, executive director and spokesman for Floridians for Smarter Growth. Since 2007 Houck has led the statewide effort to build a grassroots network and campaign machine specifically focused on defeating Amendment 4. Houck previously served as the Political Director for the campaign of Senator Mel Martinez.

In support of Hometown Democracy will be Dan Lobeck, an attorney in Sarasota who for 30 years has specialized in representing condominium and homeowners associations and in land use law. He has a long history of leadership, including student body president at the University of Florida, founding president of the Sarasota County Young Republicans and president of Control Growth Now, a group which seeks to protect neighborhoods, taxpayers and the environment in land use decisions.
